Cohesion Plus
We're incredibly proud to work alongside Cohesion Plus, a Gravesend-based community arts organisation that has been bringing people together through creativity since 2008.
As an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, Cohesion Plus believes in the power of music, dance and the arts to celebrate diversity, break down barriers and strengthen communities. Their work creates opportunities for people from all backgrounds to connect, learn from one another and celebrate the rich diversity that makes our communities so special.
Throughout the year, they deliver an inspiring programme of festivals, performances and community events across North and West Kent, including celebrations for Eid, Diwali, Pride, the Wrotham Festival of Light and many more. Their commitment to inclusion, equality and community perfectly reflects the values at the heart of Gravesham Pride.
We're delighted to have Cohesion Plus as one of our valued partners, helping us create a Pride that is welcoming, vibrant and truly representative of the diverse community we are proud to serve.
What do they say about working with us?
As an organisation the main ethos of our work is to promote community cohesion, bringing people from all walks of life together regardless of faith, race and background. Assisting with the Pride celebrations is a natural continuation of that ethos and we believe it is vital that these celebrations take place in order to break down barriers, increase awareness and understanding and allow marginalised communities to stand firmly in their truth and identities regardless of external politics and negative rhetoric.
We have worked with Gravesham Pride CIC for three consecutive Pride celebrations and despite funding setbacks, limited budgets, growing political tensions, they have always comported themselves in a highly motivated, professional and conscientious manner. They are committed to putting on the celebrations for the local communities and work for free during their spare time. As volunteers that does mean that at times they are over stretched however Gravesham Pride have always delivered a successful, well rounded event that focuses on being family friendly and inclusive regardless of sexuality, race or faith.
Overall our collaborative working relationship with Gravesham Pride CIC has always been positive, productive and conducive to improved community cohesion.
